He told us the tie of the story of a completely different kind: players will take on the role of agent Jack Joyce, who, as a result of an unsuccessful scientific experiment, has gained the opportunity to control the time. You also remembered the old Max Payne? Do not rush with conclusions – this time our hero knows how much more than just beautifully shoot in slow time.
Everything has its time
The action of demo versions begins on the pier. Joyce is hiding from employees of the Monarch Corporation-a company responsible for the failed experience and for some reason very eager to reduce the score with our hero. The first shootout does not force himself to wait long – as soon as Jack gets out of the building through the window and descends to the water, as opponents already notice it. Here it turns out that the basic gaming mechanics is a third -person shooter with shelters, in which interesting flirting awaits us over time instead of rifts. Naturally, there is also a “branded” Bullet Time, but the techniques are also more interesting with it: for example, a special impulse that freezes the time for one specific enemy, or the opportunity to completely stop what is happening for a few seconds sufficient to change shelter or a powerful spectacular hook.
► Remedy managed to create the most realistic sneakers in the history of the video game – you just look at the sole! But seriously, we really like this attention to the little things.
The player will not be abused by such manipulations: in the corner of the screen you can see a counter. The available supply is reduced as special capabilities are used and is restored only during the usual course of time.
The shootings, undoubtedly, turned out to be very spectacular: the space around is blurring every now and then, the bullets are drawn in the air of the wormholes, and Jack quickly moves along the pier, exporting the enemies of voiced blows directly into the ear. But now you can notice the repeated tactics of the battle and the animation of finishing – in the final version I would like to see more abilities and diversity. So it will most likely be – not all the same to open the cards at once!
FACT: Remedy likes to give his heroes talking surnames: Payne is consonant with the English word “pain”, wake – “awakening”. Jack is also not easy – fans noted that his last name echoes the word choice – “choice”. It looks like the truth: the developers promise that important decisions will have to be made at the end of each chapter.
Further, the path of our hero lies across the bridge: already climbing the stairs, you can hear the rattle of metal and screams-something was wrong with upstairs. The gameplay and the cat-scenes replace each other very smoothly, almost like in The Order: 1886. Jack temporarily gets out of control of the player and is in mortal danger-a truck that has broken down from the bridge is about to crush him into a cake! But here temporary anomalies come to the rescue again: everything freezes, and the car spectacularly hangs in the air literally a meter from Joyce. It turns out that in the world of Quantum Break there are such stops of time that are not subject to our character. Great!
► Similar moments will happen often – manipulations occur over time constantly and look very spectacular.
The main character finally gets the opportunity to study what is happening around in relative calm. He slowly makes his way between bullets, banks and birds, which hung in the air and stops for a short time to look at the so -fired cars and people hanging upside down. It seems that at this moment we have finally have no doubt that with the level of production the Quantum Break is very good.
► Slow down time is a great way to change shelter. Enemies will not notice how you get up to them from behind, and then the work of technology.
In the center of the bridge there is a group of demonstrators, according to which one of the employees of Monarchi opened fire a few seconds ago. One demonstrator is already falling, he is caught by a sobbing girl. If you come closer and squeeze the context button, you can hear the last words that she said before stopping time: “What are you doing?!"I desperately want to somehow intervene in the process: to knock out a machine gun or a finger from the hand of the fighter, just like mercury in the last film" X-Men "universe. But it is impossible – either within the framework of the demonstration, or completely. What a pity.
► The dynamics of the game is furious, but still not as much as in Max Payne. However, this is not Alan Wake with his "first fry the lantern and then shoot". Rather, this is something average.
The shown segment ends with a meeting with two thugs in exoskeletons – thanks to advanced equipment, they received similar ability to Joyce, and the stop of their time does not care at all.
The shootout of three people with special capabilities turned out to be a worthy final chord: at a certain stage, it becomes difficult to understand what's what. Bullets slow down or fly in the opposite direction, explosive tanks fly into pieces and gather again, and the characters are freezing, then lightly rushed along the highway. The final effort of Jack manages to run the car into enemies, it explodes, but then returns to its original place. This is a hint of the fact that in the final version it will be possible to “swallow” time back? Or, interfering with time, Joyce "breaks" it? In any case, the intrigue is still!
► These guys in exoskeletons also know how to manage the time in every way. It would be foolish to assume that there will be no such opponents in the game.
